Bison women's team places 14th at Don Cathcart Invitational

SALISBURY, Md. - The Gallaudet University women's cross country team finished 14th out of 14 teams at the Don Cathcart Invitational hosted by Salisbury University here Saturday at Winter Place Park.

Stevenson University won the meet with 47 points followed by Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania (58 points) in second place, Salisbury University (68), East Stroudsburg University (74) and Shenandoah University (113). The Bison had 415 team points. Stevenson junior Emily Gates won the 6K race, with a field of 133 runners, as she crossed the finish line in 21 minutes and 22.3 seconds.

Gallaudet sophomore Sierra Pratt (Katy, Texas) was the first Bison to complete the race in 94th place with a time of 29:24.1. Freshman Cassie Friday (Flinton, Pa.) was close behind Pratt in 98th place (29:38.5). There was a seven-minute gap before the next Bison finished as freshman Cassidy Lebaron (Mesa, Ariz.) placed 129th overall (36:32.2) followed by fellow freshmen Abigail Barker (Knoxville, Tenn.) in 131st place (39:56.4) and Aleena Nicoloro (Redding, Conn.) was 132nd (42:07.3).

GU is off next weekend before the Bison participate in the Hood College Open on Oct. 19.
