Bison complete weekend at Battlefield Classic

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Gallaudet University wrapped up the second day of the Battlefield Classic women's volleyball tournament hosted by Gettysburg College here Saturday afternoon. The Bison lost 3-1 to Elizabethtown College and 3-0 to Dickinson College.

Gallaudet (0-4) won its first set of the season in Saturday's morning match against the Blue Jays. GU won the first set 25-20 before the Blue Jays rattled off three straight set wins, 18-25, 20-25, 16-25. 

Freshman Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) led the Bison with 11 kills and two blocks followed by junior Elina Rubinshteyn (Austin, Texas) with 10 kills. Senior Adele Daniels (Austin, Texas) passed out 20 assists, tallied nine kills and made eight digs. Freshman setter Demi Bingham (Jefferson, Md.) tallied 14 assists and seven digs. Freshman defensive specialist Leila Sicoli (Austin, Texas) recorded team highs for digs (18) and service aces (three). Fellow freshman libero Isabella Rodriguez (Marietta, Ga.) added 15 digs and two aces.

In the afternoon match, Gallaudet lost 17-25, 15-25, 18-25 to the Red Devils. Daniels led the Bison with nine kills and 11 assists. Sicoli came up with 16 digs while Bingham passed out 12 assists.

  • GU didn't have an all-tournament selection

The Bison return home to host the Gallaudet Tournament on Sept. 6-7. GU will begin play on Friday, Sept. 6, at 3 p.m. against Shenandoah University.
