GU falls to Cazenovia and Cedar Crest in NEAC double-dual meet at home

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University women's swimming and diving program hosted a double-dual meet here Saturday afternoon in the Field House House pool against two North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foes in Cazenovia College and Cedar Crest College. The Bison lost 126-69 to the Falcons from Cedar Crest and 125-67 to the Wildcats from Cazenovia. The Falcons clipped the Wildcats by five points, 99-94.

Senior Jessica Monroe (Senoia, Ga.) was first, overall, in the 100-yard butterfly as she touched the wall in 1 minute, 17.87 seconds to win GU's one event out of 11. Monroe finished fourth overall in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events with times of 2:28.02 and 6:47.09, respectively. 

Freshman Dakota Ronco (La Mesa, Calif.) was second overall in the 50-yard freestyle (31.39) as she narrowly lost to Cazenovia's Nikki Menz (31.07) but earned first-place points against the Falcons. Ronco was third overall in the 100- and 1,000-yard freestyle events with times of 1:12.70 and 15:42.07, respectively, as she earned second-place points against the Falcons and Wildcats. Ronco's 50- and 100-yard freestyle times were new personal best marks.

Freshman Rebecca Vides (Haleiwa, Hawaii) was third overall in the 200-yard IM (3:04.15) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:35.08) and fourth overall in the 100-yard backstroke (1:31.19)

BISON TRACKS

  • Freshman Paola Sarabia (Yuma, Ariz.) was fourth overall in the 1,000-yard freestyle (17:06.87) and sixth overall in the 100-yard freestyle (1:21.31)
  • Freshman Jenna Kutsov (Newark, Calif.) was fifth overall in the 50-yard freestyle (38.06) and sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:50.57), both times were new personal best marks
  • Sophomore Jaelynn King (Springfield, Pa.) was sixth overall in the 100-yard backstroke (1:43.65), personal best time, and 200-yard IM (4:06.58)
  • Junior Alyssa Castillo (Selma, Calif.) was sixth overall in the 100-yard butterfly (2:07.26), new personal best time, and seventh in the 200-yard freestyle (3:36.38)
  • Skyler Officer was sixth overall in the 500-yard freestyle (9:21.70)

Gallaudet will take the next few weeks off before it dives back into the pool against Sweet Briar College and Guilford College on Saturday, Dec. 7, in Sweet Briar, Va., at 1 p.m.
