Gallaudet women's swimming drops NEAC dual-meet to Wells

WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women's swimming and diving program lost, 115-65, to North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Wells College here Saturday in the Field House pool.

Gallaudet (0-3) won four of 11 events and was led by junior Julia Miller-Notestone (Medford, Ore.), who won two individual events and was a member of GU's first-place 200-yard medley relay team.

Miller-Notestone was first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:18.15) and 100-yard backstroke (1:09.65). Fellow junior Jessica Monroe (Senoia, Ga.) finished first in the 500-yard freestyle with a new personal best time of 6:37.00.

GU's 200-yard medley relay team consisted of Miller-Notestone, senior Jana Kiefer (Leander, Texas), Monroe and freshman Kari McMinn (Belleville, Ontario) as the quartet finished in 2:27.20.

Wells (1-2) took first-place in seven events including the 200-yard freestyle relay. Express swimmer Courtney Cloutier won three individual events including the 100-yard breaststroke (1:18.55), 100-yard butterfly (1:11.19) and 200-yard IM (2:32.47).

Gallaudet is the middle of a four-date homestand and will next host Marymount (Va.) University on Friday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m.
