GU women's swimming drops meet to Goucher

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University women's swimming and diving program lost its dual meet with Goucher College, 156-70, on Saturday in the Field House pool.

Gallaudet (0-5) won four of the 14 events against the Gophers.

Junior Julia Miller-Notestone (Medford, Ore.) won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:08.64 and touched the wall first in the 500-yard freestyle (6:04.81). Miller-Notestone was second in the 50-yard backstroke (33.37) as she just missed first place by a second.

Junior Jessica Monroe (Senoia, Ga.) was first in the 100-yard butterfly with a posted time of 1:18.82. She took second in the 50-yard butterfly with a new personal best time of 34.19 seconds.

Senior captain Jana Kiefer (Leander, Texas) earned first-place points in the 100-yard IM with a new personal best time of 1:23.18 to secure nine points for the Bison. Kiefer took third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:23.32) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:37.71).

Freshman Kari McMinn (Belleville, Ontario) was second in the 50-yard freestyle (34.20).


  • Monroe was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:30.39)
  • McMinn was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a new personal best time of 1:21.70
  • Freshman Casey Peck (Mentor, Ohio) was fourth in the 500-yard freestyle with a new personal best time of 8:16.56
  • Sophomore Alyssa Castillo (Fresno, Calif.) picked up second-place points in the 100-yard IM (2:07.95)
