Bison women's swimming takes third at Cedar Crest Invitational

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Gallaudet University women's swimming and diving team finished the two-day Cedar Crest College Falcon Invitational here Sunday in third place.

The Bison totaled 252 team points and were ahead of SUNY Cobleskill (232) and behind Roberts Wesleyan (581) and the host Falcons (460).

Junior Julia Miller-Notestone (Medford, Ore.) finished third in the 50-yard backstroke (33.09), 200-yard freestyle (2:17.88) and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:03.84).

Gallaudet's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Miller-Notestone, junior Jessica Monroe (Senoia, Ga.), senior Jana Kiefer (Leander, Texas) and freshman Kari McMinn (Belleville, Ontario) finished fourth with a time of 2:10.10.


  • Monroe was seventh in the 100-yard butterfly (1:20.59), 200-yard freestyle (2:28.82)
  • GU's 800-yard freestyle relay placed third with a time of 10:48.89
  • Sophomore Alyssa Castillo (Fresno, Calif.) posted two personal best times in the 100-yard IM (2:05.24) and 200-yard freestyle (3:48.07)

This was Gallaudet last meet for the fall semester. The Bison will next host Penn St.-Altoona on Friday, Jan. 18, at 6 p.m. in the Field House pool.
