GU women's swim team takes second at Cazenovia Invitational

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. - The Gallaudet University women's swimming and diving team finished second at the Cazenovia Invitational here Saturday with 187 team points accumulated in 16 events.

Host Cazenovia College won the meet with 236 points followed by the Bison, Herkimer County Community College (106) and SUNY Delhi (54).

Junior Julia Miller-Notestone (Medford, Ore.) won the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events when she touched the wall in 1:07.98 and 2:26.71, respectively. She placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (6:04.63).

Miller-Notestone was a member of the 200-meter medley relay team (2:24.76) with senior Jana Kiefer (Leander, Texas), junior Jessica Monroe (Senoia, Ga.) and freshman Kari McMinn (Belleville, Ontario).

Kiefer finished second in the 200-yard IM (3:02.00), 200-yard butterfly (3:09.59) and 1,000-yard freestyle (14:17.76).

Monroe had two second-place finishes; in the 100-yard freestyle (1:05.88) and 100-yard butterfly (1:16.49).


  • Monroe was third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:26.19)
  • McMinn took fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (30.85) out of 12 swimmers
