Five different Bison set personal records in double-dual meet at York

YORK, Pa. - The Gallaudet University women's swimming and diving team lost a non-conference double-dual meet here Friday night on the campus of York (Pa.) College. The Bison lost 110-66 to Penn St.-Altoona and 134-55 against the host Spartans. York defeated Penn St.-Altoona 125-56.

The Bison were led by freshman freshman Jackie Perkins (Hampton, Va.) who won the 100-yard breaststroke with a new personal record time of one minute and 15.96 seconds. She won the event by over five seconds. Perkins set a personal best time in the 100 butterfly (1:18.30) as she finished fifth overall. She completed her evening with a sixth-place finish in the 50 freestyle (29.42).

Freshman Julia Miller-Notestone (Medford, Ore.) posted a new personal best time in the 200 freestyle as she touched the wall in fourth place and a time of 2:14.11. She was fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:08.91) and helped the Bison 400 freestyle relay team finish second (4:50.40). Miller-Notestone was joined by sophomore Alyssa Hanbury (Orlando, Fla.), senior Taylor Mickelson (Fargo, N.D.) and senior Katie Bigelow (Flushing, Mich.).

Junoir Rochelle Carty-Bauman (Brampton, Ontario) was one of five Bison to set new personal records on Friday night. She was fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:44.13), eighth in the 200 freestyle (2:59.36) and ninth in the 100 freestyle (1:21.34). Her two personal records came in the freestyle events.

Freshman Jessica Monroe (Newnan, Ga.) placed third in the 1,000 freestyle (14:08.04), sixth in the 100 freestyle with a new personal record of 1:08.80 and eighth in the 50 freestyle (32.31).


  • Senior Paige-Cecily Ramos (New York, N.Y.) set a personal record in the 200 IM as she finished sixth with a time of 3:03.52
  • Bigelow was third in the 500 freestyle (7:01.66) and fourth in the 1,000 freestyle (14:13.29) right behind Monroe
  • Ramos was fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:44.94)
  • Hanbury was sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:25.95)

The Bison take the week off before they host Stevenson University in the final meet of the regular season on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m. Prior to the meet Gallaudet's seniors on the men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be recognized.
