GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Oct. 21 and senior Anna Polivanchuk (Orebro, Sweden) was selected as the first NEAC Women's Swimmer of the Week this season.
Polivanchuck won three individual events and broke two school records last Saturday as the Bison hosted Frostburg State University. She began the day by breaking the 50-yard backstroke record in the first leg of the 200-yard medley relay touching the wall at 28.79 seconds to break her old school record time of 29.04 that she set on Feb. 15, 2014. Polivanchuck won the 100 butterfly (1:05.50), 100 backstroke (1:01.05) and 100 individual medley (1:04.17), which was another record. Polivanchuk's time in the 100 IM was faster than her sister's (Alexandra Polivanchuk) time of 1:04.69 set in Jan. 21, 2012.
This is the first NEAC Women's Swimmer of the Week award the team as received this season and first of Polivanchuck's career at Gallaudet.
The Gallaudet University women's swimming and diving team will host NEAC foe Cazenovia College on Friday, Oct. 31, at 6 p.m.
