GANESVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Jan. 20 and junior Alexandra Polivanchuk (Orebro, Sweden) earned her second NEAC Women's Swimmer of the Week this season. She was honored earlier this season on Oct. 21.
Polivanchuk had a big weekend for the Bison, who swam in back-to-back double dual meets on the road. She came away with three individual event first-place finishes and three second place overall but first against one of the other teams in the double dual meet set-up. The junior was also a key member of Gallaudet's first place 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:19.13. She won the 100-yard backstroke on back-to-back days and also was first in the 50-yard freestyle in Saturday's NEAC double dual meet at Cazenovia.
This is Polivanchuk's fifth NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week award in her career. She received two as a sophomore (2011-12 season) and one last season (2012-13).
The Gallaudet University women's swimming and diving team are slated to travel to Baltimore on Wednesday, Jan. 22, for a meet with Notre Dame of Maryland University to complete the regular-season schedule.
