GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) released its conference awards for the week of October 24, and Gallaudet University swimmer Valerie Farr (Fremont, Calif.) was honored as the NEAC Women’s Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week for her strong performance last Saturday.
The sophomore was part of Gallaudet’s winning 200-meter medley relay team with a time of 2 minutes, 34.69 seconds at the Frostburg State University meet. She also had two individual second-place finishes, in the 400-meter individual medley (6:51.03) and the 100-meter backstroke (1:34). Farr’s efforts helped the Bison (1-1) open the season with a split in the meet, defeating Davis and Elkins College and losing to the host Bobcats.
Gallaudet swimming swept both the men’s and women’s NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week awards as senior Brian Bennett (Colorado Springs, Colo.) won the weekly honor on the men’s side.
The Bison will next swim in Roanoke, Va., on Saturday, October 29, against Hollins University and Greensboro College in a double dual meet.
