Bison women's swimming team drops CAC and season opener

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Gallaudet University women's swimming team began its season against two of the top teams in the Capital Athletic Conference in powerhouse University of Mary Washington and Salisbury University on Halloween. GU dropped both matches against the conference opponents at the Field House pool on Saturday afternoon. UMW handed Gallaudet a 109-36 defeat while the Bison fared a little better against Salisbury, 100-45, in the double dual meet.

Gallaudet took seven relay points against Salisbury as the Bison ‘B' team of sophomore Raven Slevin and freshmen Randi Medugno, Kimberly Lin and Cassandra Jones-Bell finished with a time of 2:07.31. Junior Carlisle Robinson finished third overall in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.70. She just missed first place by two seconds. Her time earned Gallaudet five points against Salisbury and two against Mary Washington. Robinson was fourth in the 50-yard butterfly with a time 29.44 seconds, a second off the pace of first-place winner Kelly Scott from Mary Washington. Her performance gave the Buff and Blue four additional points against the Eagles.

Gallaudet will next travel to St. Mary's City, Md., to participate in a double dual meet with CAC foe St. Mary's (Md.) College and Goucher College on Saturday, November 7, at 1 p.m. The meet will be a good run through for the Bison as the 2010 CAC championships return back to St. Mary's on February 12-14.
