Coach Snape featured in National Journal magazine

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Gallaudet University men's and women's swimming coach Bill Snape was recently featured in the National Journal magazine for "Making a Splash" outside his work as an environmental lawyer in D.C.

Snape is in his sixth-season at the helm for the Bison swimming program. During the day he is the senior counsel at the Center for Biological Diversity.

"I have come to learn and respect that the deaf culture is a powerful and beautiful thing," said Snape in the magazine article. The article goes on to explain Snape's philosophy on how competitive swimming mirrors life lessons.

The article concludes with Snape's personal goal on improving his signing at GU.

"I'm still mediocre at best," said Snape. "Sign language is not an easy language to learn."

Snape and the Gallaudet swimming program will next compete in a double dual meet on Saturday, December 12, in York, Pa., against Capital Athletic Conference foe York (Pa.) College and Penn State-Altoona at 1 p.m.
