Heavily depleted by injury and illness, the Gallaudet University swim team lost a pair of meets to Hood College. with the women losing 94-82 and the men losing 93-63. Leading the way for the Bison swim squad was sophomore sensation Carlisle Robinson who won her events in the 200 Free and 100 Butterfly. Also winning individual events were Marissa Larson (Women's 500 free) and Kyle Sexton (Men's 100 back).
"We simply could not overcome our lack of numbers today." explained Gallaudet Head Coach Bill Snape. "While we respect the sportsmanship of the Hood squad, who deserved today's win, I am publicly challenging our team to return the favor at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships in mid-February."
With inaguration events dominating the Washington D.C. scene this week, approximately 15 Gallaudet swimmers will be training hard in preparation for the CAC Championships. In addition, the women have one more dual meet, Wednesday, January 28th, versus the College of Notre Dame, at the Gallaudet Field House. Selected Gallaudet men will swim exhibition heats for time during this meet, which is also Senior Day.
"We have a saying on this team," concluded Snape. "Are we wishing success or wanting it? We will find out what this team is made of over the next month."
