Gallaudet's Neild and Zacarias land on All-NEAC teams

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) released its 2019 softball all-conference awards on Thursday and Gallaudet University sophomore shortstop Hannah Neild (Litchfield, N.H.) and senior pitcher/first baseman Jacklyn Zacarias (Montebello, Calif.) were named to the All-NEAC second team and third team, respectively.

This is Neild's second appearance on the All-NEAC team as she was selected to the first team last year and took home NEAC Rookie of the Year honors. Neild ranks 16th nationally in NCAA Division III for triples per game (0.17) and triples (five). She is also 36th in batting average (.474) and 45th in slugging percentage (.782). Neild ranks first in the NEAC for slugging percentage (.782), second in triples (five), third in batting average (.474), fifth in total bases (61), home runs (two), sixth in on base percentage (.500), seventh in fielding percentage (.990), 10th in RBI (24) and 12th in hits (37) and doubles (eight). In addition to earning NEAC Softball Player of the Week honors once this season (March), she was also an All-NEAC women's basketball first team honoree and NEAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year this year.

Zacarias makes her first appearance on the All-NEAC teams. In the circle, she ranks second in the NEAC in appearances (22), third in games started (18), fourth in strikeouts (88), strikeouts per game (5.94), fifth in complete games (14), shutouts (two), sixth in wins (eight) and seventh in innings pitched (103.2). At the plate, Zacarias ranks third in triples (four), ninth in doubles (nine), 12th in slugging percentage (.547), 13th in stolen bases (eight) and 16th in RBI (21) and total bases (47).

Gallaudet, in nine NEAC seasons, has accumulated 17 all-conference honors (seven first team, nine second team and one third team selections) and two Rookie of the Year awards.

Keuka College junior shortstop Jessie Hammers was named NEAC Player of the Year while Penn St.-Berks senior Jessica Rozick repeated as the NEAC Pitcher of the Year. Cazenovia College freshman catcher/infielder Caitlin Kelleher took home NEAC Rookie of the Year honors. Penn St.-Berks' Donna Ference was voted by her peers as the NEAC Softball Coach of the Year.

This is the second year the NEAC has done a combined all-conference team for softball.
