CAZENOVIA, N.Y. - Gallaudet University shut out Cazenovia College, 2-0, here Sunday afternoon in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) men's soccer match at a chilly Christakos Field.

Gallaudet (6-9, 4-6 NEAC) scored two second-half goals after the teams played a scoreless first half.

Freshman Dylan Christoffels (Methuen, Mass.) got GU on the scoreboard with his third goal of the season at the 51:39 mark in the second half. Fellow freshman forward Chad Johnson (Gardena, Calif.) headed home his 13th goal of the season, off an assist from freshman defender Julien Cano (Avondale, Ariz.), at the 78:38 mark to give the buff and blue some breathing room.

Cazenovia (3-12, 2-8 NEAC) held the edge in shots, 14-9, and took more shots than Gallaudet in the first or second half but could not get a shot past Bison goalie Shane Angel (Mechanicsville, Md.), who made five saves.

  • Cazenovia held an 8-5 edge in corner kicks
  • This is GU's fourth shutout this season
  • Gallaudet is 1-2 playing in the state of New York this fall

Gallaudet will close out the NEAC regular-season schedule on Wednesday, Oct. 24, on the road against Lancaster Bible College (9-6-1, 8-2 NEAC) at 7:15 p.m.
