GU places eight on ECFC all-academic list along with 20 on the honor roll

WASHINGTON - The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) announced it's 11th annual all-academic honorees Tuesday and Gallaudet University had eight recipients.

GU's honorees include sophomore Austin Bates (Lacey, Wash.), senior Matthew Cracraft (Ferris, Texas), sophomore Mitchell Dolinar (Las Vegas, Nev.), junior Cress Fisher (Boyertown, Pa.), junior Mason Gooch (Mount Sterling, Ky.), junior Dawson Moder (Maplewood, Minn.), sophomore Joseph Mendis (Brook Park, Ohio) and sophomore Marc Wallace Jr. (Panama City Beach, Fla.).

Cracraft is making his third appearance on the ECFC all-academic team (2016, '17, '19) while Fisher makes his second straight. 

To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing, have participated a minimum of two years with the team and achieved a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.3 or higher following the 2018 fall semester.

The ECFC includes six teams, five of those programs were represented on the 40-player team. Castleton University led the way with 14 honorees.

Gallaudet has had eight players earn three ECFC All-Academic honors in their career they include Matthew Cracraft (2019), Sean Fenton (2016), Sean Maiwald (2015), Gregg McConville (2014), Nico Santiago (2014), Adham Talaat (2013), Denton Mallas (2012) and Caleb Hinton (2011).

Gallaudet's ECFC all-academic honors now stands at 55 in 11 years.

New for this season, the conference named an Academic Honor Roll. The ECFC Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes that achieved a 3.0 cumulative or fall semester-based GPA or higher. Further, freshman and first-year transfer student-athletes are eligible for the recognition. In total, 152 student-athletes from all six member institutions earned ECFC Academic Honor Roll recognition. Gallaudet had 20 players land on the ECFC Academic Honor Roll, not including the eight on the ECFC all-academic team. In total, 28 of GU's 57-man roster (49 percent) was honored with an ECFC academic honor.
