Gallaudet women's cross country places 7th at Green Terror Challenge in season debut
WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Gallaudet University men’s and women’s cross country programs made their season debuts on Saturday here at the Green Terror Challenge on the campus of McDaniel College. The Bison women’s team finished seventh overall with 140 team points.
McDaniel’s women’s team won with 34 points followed by St. Mary’s (Md.) College in second with 44 points followed by Hood College in third with 49 points. Roanoke College placed fourth (50 points), the Green Terror Alumni team was fifth (50 points) and Stevenson University (87 points) was sixth out of seven teams. Green Terror Alumni runner Jill Krebs won the 5K race in 20 minutes and 32 seconds.
Shadoe Williamson was the first Bison to finish the 5K race in 26 minutes and 49 seconds as she placed 37th overall. Right behind Williamson was Radoslava Slavova (Scranton, Pa.) who crossed in 27:24 in 40th place and Lakeishia Brown (Evans, Ga.) finished 42nd overall in 27:30. Rituparna Sharmacharya was 10 spots behind Brown with a time of 29:47. Rachel Young and Olivia Malcolm (St. Augustine, Fla.) round out the Bison team as they placed 53rd and 54th overall, respectively.
The meet marked the official return of the Bison cross country program after it ceased operation last September due to lack of runners.
Gallaudet will next travel to York, Pa., on Saturday, September 17, to run in the Coach Achtzehn Classic hosted by York (Pa.) College at 3:30 p.m.
