MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Bison women's volleyball team completed what they needed to do Sunday on the campus of Penn St.-Harrisburg as Gallaudet University wrapped up its North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) regular-season schedule with a quick 3-0 win over SUNY Cobleskill. The straight set win, 25-9, 25-17, 25-4, is the 19th of the season for the Buff and Blue.
Gallaudet (23-6, 9-1 NEAC) has to wait and see what happens to conference leading Penn St.-Berks (16-5, 8-0) who is playing two conference games at College of St. Elizabeth on Sunday. As of press time the final score of the 10 a.m. match between Berks and SUNYIT had not been posted. Penn St.-Berks goes up against Morrisville State in the afternoon at 2 p.m.
The Bison win increases the season long win streak to 11 dating back two weeks. This is the second longest win streak during Head Coach Lynn Ray Boren's tenure at Gallaudet. The Bison won 12 straight near the end of the 2005 season.
Freshman Kali Frowick (Norfolk, Neb.) led the Bison with 13 kills, seven digs and three service aces. Junior outside hitter Ann Whited (Fishers, Ind.) chipped in nine kills, six digs and three service aces. GU served up 14 service aces and made five blocks against Cobleskill (7-17, 2-8). Freshman setter Sarah Tubert (Burbank, Calif.) passed out 29 assists in the win.
Gallaudet will tune-up for the upcoming conference tournament against some stiff non-conference competition the next two weeks. The Bison will host their last home game of the regular-season on Thursday, October 20, at 7 p.m. against University of Mary Washington to help kick-off Homecoming 2011.
