MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team won two North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) matches on Saturday in straight sets against Cazenovia College and Keuka College on the campus of Penn St.-Harrisburg. The Bison (22-6) improve their conference record to 8-1 with one regular-season NEAC match left. GU has won 10 matches in a row.
Gallaudet started the day with a 25-13, 25-13, 25-13 win over Cazenovia. Freshman Kali Frowick (Norfolk, Neb.) led the Bison with 14 kills and five digs. Senior outside hitter Paige Johnson (North Richland Hills, Texas) added eight kills and two service aces while freshman setter Sarah Tubert (Burbank, Calif.) passed out 38 assists.
In the second match, the Bison took down Keuka 25-17, 25-17, 25-19. Frowick tallied a team-high 12 kills as junior outside hitter Ann Whited (Fishers, Ind.) knocked down nine kills on 22 attempts. Tubert passed out 34 assists as the Bison won in straight sets for the 18th time this season.
The Bison will need some help from SUNYIT (16-11, 6-1 NEAC) and Morrisville State (4-15, 3-5) on Sunday when those two go up against NEAC leading Penn St.-Berks (16-5, 8-0). Berks handed the Bison their only conference loss of the season. If Berks wins out on Sunday it will clinch the conference regular-season title and home court advantage for the NEAC tournament.
Gallaudet will go up against SUNY Cobleskill (7-16, 2-7) tomorrow (Sunday, October 16) at 10 a.m. in Harrisburg, Pa.
