Ann Whited earns NEAC Volleyball Player of the Week award
GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference player of the week awards and Gallaudet University sophomore outside hitter Ann Whited (Fishers, Ind.) was named the volleyball recipient for the week of October 11. This is the first-ever player of the week award for Whited in her career.
Whited led the Bison to a 3-2 record last week as Gallaudet (15-10, 4-0 NEAC) finished second at its annual Worthington Classic. Whited was selected to the all-tournament team as she had 56 kills and 38 digs in 15 sets. In the Worthington Classic championship match against North Carolina Wesleyan College, Whited had a team best 19 kills and 12 digs. She finished the week with 63 kills, 44 digs and 13 service aces in 18 sets played.
This is the third NEAC Player of the Week award for Gallaudet volleyball this season as junior setter Paige Johnson (North Richland Hills, Texas) was honored twice this season on September 6 and 27. Overall, this is the fourth NEAC Player of the Week award for Gallaudet this fall.
GU is back in action on the road Tuesday, October 12, in Gettysburg, Pa., as the Bison go up against the Bullets from Gettysburg College in a non-conference 7 p.m. game.
