GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference player of the week awards and for the third time this season Gallaudet University setter Paige Johnson (North Richland Hills, Texas) was named the volleyball recipient for the week of October 25.
Johnson led the Bison to a 2-1 record last week as GU played three non-conference teams. In three matches (11 sets), Johnson recorded 104 assists, 26 digs, 11 kills, four service aces and two solo blocks. Her best game of the week came against University of Scranton last Saturday on the road at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pa. The Bison won a tough 3-2 match against the Royals. Johnson passed out 46 assists and recorded 15 digs to earn the double-double. She also had two service aces against Scranton. She averaged 9.45 assists per set and over two digs per set for the week.
For the season, Johnson has 927 assists, 230 digs, 96 kills, 76 service aces and 23 blocks in 31 matches (109 sets). She ranks in Division III for service aces as her 0.70 average per set sits in the Top 30 nationally.
This is the fourth NEAC Player of the Week award for Gallaudet volleyball this season. Johnson was honored back on September 6 and 27 while sophomore teammate Ann Whited (Fishers, Ind.) was honored on October 11.
Gallaudet hits the road to face nationally ranked Christopher Newport University on Wednesday, October 27, at 7:30 p.m.
