Bison ride the Sweep Wave into Saturday

WASHINGTON, DC--The Bison wasted no time in establishing their presence on the opening night of the second annual Worthington Classic. First, they dominated Peace College 3-0, and followed suit with D'Youville College in another 3-0 victory.

During the first match, freshman middle hitter Nukeitra Hayes took command of the Buff and Blue Killing Machine, spewing out 11. Junior Katelyn Reese added eight more bullets against the Pacers. Both hitters also recorded block solos and assists. However, sophomore Amanda Krieger had the best hitting percentage of the team, recording 6 kills in 11 attempts for a 54% posting.

Shana Lehmann, the September Athlete of the Month, backed up her mates with 18 digs, as fellow co-captain Krystle Berrigan targeted 39 assists. Sophomore Micaela Paulone added another 10 digs to bolster the Bison defensive effort.

Over the second match against D'Youville College, sophomore Justine Jeter established her presence with 15 kills, and 54% hitting, going 15-of-28.  Reese had 12, and junior Ursa Rewolinski added 7. Lehmann shielded the floor with 24 digs, while Berrigan posted 46 assists. 

Over both matches, the Bison put forth 16 service aces, averaging 2.6 per game (6 games). The Bison improve to 14-7 on the season, and take on Marymount University at 10 a.m. followed by a 12 p.m. matchup with Salem College.
