The Bison Home Stand stops at 18

WASHINGTON, DC--Gallaudet took on the Seahawks in conference play at the Field House. In a tense five-game match where the lead see-sawed back and forth at times, the visitors prevailed over Gallaudet in five games, 3-2. The Buff and Blue jumped ahead in the first game, off a Nukeitra Hayes kill, 30-28.

The Seahawks took games 2 and 3, capitalizing on Bison mental errors and solid blocking efforts from Becca Tursell and Claire Kodan. In game 4, Gallaudet played tough and persistent volleyball, at times riding off stellar serving from Amy Siebert and Shana Lehmann. The ensuing result was a 30-25 win to force a monumental fifth game.

In the final game, the Seahawks continued converting opportunities to points as the Buff and Blue could not finish a dazzling fifth-game rally to extend the school-record 18-game home win streak. Until tonight, the Bison had not lost at home since October 4, 2005.

Gallaudet (8-6, 4-1 CAC) travels to the Salisbury University Tournament over the weekend, where the Bison will play Messiah, SUNY-New Paltz, Salisbury and Susquehanna before coming back home to continue conference play against Hood College on October 3.
