SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - A small six-member team represented the Gallaudet University women's track and field program at Saturday's Paul Kaiser Classic hosted by Shippensburg University. There were no team scores for this large end of the season meet.
Senior Shellane McKitty (Yonkers, N.Y.) led the way as she competed in three different events. The sprinter finished 14th in the 400-meter dash as she crossed the finish line in 1:01.32. She was 21st in the 200-meter dash (26.86) as she won her heat, the fourth of seven. Finally, she was 33rd in the 100-meter dash (13.23).
Junior Lawjen Ashmore (Fairbanks, Alaska) edged out McKitty in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.63 as she placed eighth.
Two different Bison ran in the 3,000-meter run for the buff and blue. Junior Nicole Musey (Prince George, British Columbia) was 10th overall with a time of 13:26.20 followed by senior Ivy Sahneyah (First Mesa, Ariz.) in 12th place (16:25.21).
Sophomore Saria Webb (Duncanville, Texas) finished 29th in the shot put as her best throw went 9.46 meters (31 feet, 0.50 inches).
Abby Courtemanche (Southbridge, Mass.) was 30th in the hammer as he best throw went 24.07 meters (79 feet).
- Webb was 33rd in the discus throw with a top toss of 20.18 meters (66 feet, 2 inches)
- Courtemanche was 38th in the shot put with a throw of 6.88 meters (22 feet, 7 inches)
This concludes the 2017 season for the Bison women's track and field program.
