Ransom wins two events, sets school records in the process at Jim Taylor Invitational

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Sophomore Mariah Ransom (Snellville, Ga.) continues to re-write the Gallaudet University women’s track and field record book as she won two events Saturday at the Jim Taylor Invitational on the campus of Susquehanna University.

Ransom was first in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.39 seconds which improves on her current school record time of 15.43, set last week at the Bridgewater (Va.) College meet. Ransom was also first in the 400 meter hurdles when she finished with a time of 1:06.98. Her record time improves on her school record of 1:07.27, which was set last week.

Ransom wasn’t the only Bison to win an event on Saturday as fellow sophomore Leslye Kang (Wayne, N.J.) was first in the javelin throw with a toss of 37.01 meters (121 feet, five inches).

Gallaudet’s 4x400 meter relay had a nice showing as it finished 11th with a time of 4:38.36 against a tough field that featured Division I, II and III teams.

GU will next compete at the Goucher Invitational in Towson, Md., on Saturday, April 7.
