Coach Mark Amissah optimistic as he looks to 2007

The Gallaudet University Women’s Soccer Team finished 7-12 during the 2006 season, coming off a 3-17 posting in 2005.

The Bison accomplished a great deal with a mix of veteran and incoming players. In the final game, the positive team chemistry was visible in a stunning 5-1 win. During that game, the team outplayed and outperformed its opponent with masterful passing, ball control skills, and teamwork. One notable accomplishment was a tremendous ability to control the ball with good passing skills (maybe take out this sentence because it’s repeating what was already said).

Junior forward Katie Romano and sophomore goalie Amelia Palmer  played key roles in leading the Bison; as a result, they were recognized by the CAC and selected to play on the USA Athletes International team.

Overall the team made great improvements and surprised the home fans with a better winning percentage under a new head coach. The team is looking forward to improving during the 2007 season with 10 members from the 2006 squad returning. The Bison will also be sporting brand new jerseys. Try-outs will take place from August 20 – August 25, 2007 with 22 new players anticipated.
