GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its student-athlete of the week awards for March 5 and Gallaudet University junior Jacklyn Zacarias (Montebello, Calif.) was selected as the NEAC Softball Player of the Week.

Zacarias went 3-for-9 in the first three games of the 2018 season. In the season-opening doubleheader against the Catholic University of America, the Bison infielder went 2-for-5 at the plate with a double, an RBI, a walk and a stolen base. Later in the week, she added a double and two RBI in a loss against Wesley College. Zacarias posted a .333 batting average and a .400 on-base percentage with three RBI and two stolen bases in the first week of play.

Penn St.-Berks junior Val Miller was named NEAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. Miller tossed a complete game allowing just one run and three walks in the Nittany Lions' victory. She scattered seven hits and struck out four batters in her 2018 debut.

This marks the first NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week honor for the Bison this season and Zacarias' first honor of her career.
