Bison win streak stopped by Penn St.-Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Gallaudet University softball team dropped a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) doubleheader Friday on the road against Penn St.-Harrisburg. The Bison were swept 10-1, 11-3 in two five-inning games.

Gallaudet (5-19, 3-5 NEAC South Division) saw its three-game win streak come to a halt as Harrisburg (11-13, 7-1) scored a run in every inning it played.

In the first game, GU was limited to one hit as sophomore Rachel Sweigart (Big Rock, Ill.) came through with a RBI double in the fourth inning to score junior Alicia Johnson (San Jose, Calif.).

Gallaudet jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second game as Johnson tripled to score sophomore Kara Gulvas (Crown Point, Ind.) and senior Easter Faafiti (Pittsburg, Calif.). The Nittany Lions responded with a run in the first and second innings before taking the lead for good with two runs in the third. The game ended in the fifth when Harrisburg scored its 11th run to give them an eight-run lead.

GU will face Penn St.-Berks on Saturday, April 7, in a NEAC doubleheader at noon.
