Gallaudet softball season opener delayed once more, Bison to host doubleheader on Tuesday
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Gallaudet University softball team continues to practice and prepare for the 2010 season, once slated to start on February 27, but the Bison will need to wait another five days before its first game. For the first time in 13 years the Beach Blast Tournament hosted by Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach, Va., has been canceled. The two-day tournament that was set to begin tomorrow at the Princess Anne Athletic Complex could not get the fields ready to play due to additional rain from this week.
Gallaudet was set to play games against Albright College, CUNY Baruch, John Jay University and York (N.Y.). The Bison will have the weekend off to prepare for next week where GU will play three doubleheaders on three consecutive days.
Coach Kitty Bottoms added a home doubleheader against Southern Virginia University on Tuesday, March 9, at 3 p.m. GU will then travel to Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa., on Wednesday before the Bison return home to host University of Mary Washington on Thursday in the Capital Athletic Conference opener.
