Bison softball takes third at the Invitational

WASHINGTON, D.C.--The Bison hosted Hood, Wells and the College of Notre Dame over the weekend in the annual Gallaudet Invitational Tournament. The Bison took third place, with Hood and Wells facing off in the championship. Hood prevailed to take the title.

Gallaudet went 1-3, splitting a pair of games with the College of Notre Dame (CND). The first game, CND won 21-20 on Saturday; the Bison picked up a 16-2 win on Sunday.

Hood edged Gallaudet 9-8, as did Wells in a 14-11 decision.

Over four games,  junior Caitlin Mosholder led the Bison with a .533 average, going 8-for-15, and nine RBI. She had four doubles and a triple, scoring six runs altogether. Fellow junior Devin Quinn started three of four games, posting a .571 average off 4-for-7 hitting, scoring six times.

Catcher Kallie Williams finished with a .500 average off a 9-for-18 performance at the plate with nine RBI, two doubles and a triple. Williams also scored eight runs. Senior Lori Hower also went .500 in a 6-for-12 performance with a double and seven RBI as well as seven runs to her credit.

Freshman Alicia Balzer led the team with 10 RBI, scoring seven times in a 9-for-19 weekend (.474).

Gallaudet (5-12-1) resumes conference play when they host Salisbury University on Tuesday, April 1. The first pitch goes at 3:00 p.m.
