TOWSON, Md. - The Gallaudet University men's cross country team entered three runners into the Goucher College Classic on Saturday as nearly 50 runners finished the 8,000-meter course.
Freshman Max Wilding (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the Bison team as he finished 35th overall with a time of 33 minutes and 17 seconds. Three minutes later, Ando Ferguson (Washington, D.C.) finished the course in 40th place (36:29) and teammate Richard Camacho (Medford, Ore.) was close behind in 46th place (37:54).
The United States Naval Academy ‘B' team won the meet with 39 team points as its runners Brett Butler (26:53) and Richard Hoyt (27:12) finished first and second overall in the race. York (Pa.) College was second with 53 team points while the host Gophers were third with 69 team points. Two other teams recorded team points in St. Mary's (Md.) College (4th place, 70 points) and Prince Georges Community College (5th place, 117 points). A team needs five runners to complete the course to earn team points.
Gallaudet will run in its final regular-season meet next Saturday, October 17, in the Hood College Invitational. The 10 a.m. meet will be in Frederick, Md. The Bison then will have several weeks to prepare for the Capital Athletic Conference championship being hosted on November 7.
