SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Juniors Gunner Hahn (Stevens Point, Wis.) and Michael Haynes (Edwardsville, Ill.) had one final chance to qualify for the NCAA championship meet here Monday at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier Meet.
The pair ran in the 110-meter hurdles together and Hahn competed in the 400-meter hurdles.
Hahn finished eighth in the 110-meter hurdles as he crossed the finish line in 15.46 seconds, a full second off the first-place time of 14.34 set by Rowan University's Bobby Cooks. Hahn earned one team point for the Bison as they finished tied for 42nd place. This was Hahn's fastest time in this event this season, his previous best time was 15.47 seconds set at the Battleground Relays on April 7.
Haynes was four spots behind Hahn in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.90 seconds. The NCAA qualification mark is under 15 seconds.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Hahn placed 20th out of 22 runners with a time of 59.53 seconds. Rowan University's Anthony Salemo ran away with first place in the event with a blistering time of 51.78 seconds, the second best time in the country this season in this event. The NCAA qualification mark is under 55 seconds.
