SALISBURY, Md. - Freshman distance runner Otto Kingstedt (Stockholm, Sweden) wasted little time in his outdoor track and field debut to win two events and set a new Gallaudet University men's record here Saturday at the 2016 Lloyd Sigler Spring Meet hosted by Salisbury University.
Kingstedt won the 5,000-meter run with a blazing time of 15 minutes, 15.31 seconds as he finished over 33 seconds ahead of the second-place runner from the host Sea Gulls. Kingstedt's time shatters a 36-year-old school record of 15:28.0 set by GU Athletics Hall of Famer Gregory Warren on May 13, 1979 at the University of Maryland Classic in College Park, Md.
Kingstedt just missed out on a second school record as he won the 1,500-meter run as he crossed the finish line in 4:14.82. He was just over six seconds of the school record of 4:08.3 set in 1993.
The Bison finished fourth overall as a team with 65 points. Salisbury University ran away with the victory with 251 team points followed by Rowan College at Gloucester County in second place (153 points) and Howard Community College in third (103). Middlesex Community College was fifth (44) to round out the field.

Junior John Isaacson (Clive, Iowa) was third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.05), just two seconds off the first-place time.
Freshman Vicente Perez (Cicero, Ill.) was fourth in the 1,500-meter run (4:36.27) and 10th in the 800-meter run (2:18.90).
Sophomore Shawn Benavente (Phoenix, Ariz.) was sixth in the 400-meter dash (55.10 seconds) and ninth in the 200-meter dash (24.81).

A trio of Bison attempted the javelin as senior Hayden Shock (Burke, Va.), Isaacson and sophomore Naod Getachew (Somerville, Mass.) finished fifth through seventh in the event. Shock led the group with a toss of 30.07 meters (98 feet, eight inches).
