TOWSON, Md. – The Gallaudet University men's track and field team was back in action on a blustery Saturday here at the Goucher College Classic. The Bison men's team finished fourth overall with 64 team points. Johns Hopkins University swept both the men's and women's team standings with 298 and 198 team points, respectively.
The Bison men's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams finished second to earn two of Gallaudet's four second-place finishes. The 4x100 meter relay team of freshmen Montray Roberts (Dallas, Texas), Toraneau Varice (Deerfield Beach, Fla.), Brandon Capuano (Lexington, N.C.) and senior Vianney Boum Yamb (Silver Spring, Md.) finished in 46.19 seconds. The 4x400 relay team of junior Alex Close (Tallahassee, Fla.), Rashad Gatlin (Chicago, Ill.), Boum Yamb and freshman Lorenzo Fuller (Miami, Fla.) crossed the finish line in 3:47.64.
Freshman Dylan Rich (Brockton, Mass.) was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:48.04) while Boum Yamb was third in the 200-meter dash (23.48) and sophomore John Isaacson (Clive, Iowa) was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.33). In the field events, junior Todd Collins (East Islip, N.Y.) was second in the hammer throw with a toss of 30.75 meters (100 feet, 11 inches). Collins was two places in front of fellow junior Nicholas Wilczynski (Hampton, Va.) with a toss of 27.62 meters (90 feet, seven inches).
Gallaudet will next participate in the Messiah Invitational next Saturday, April 11, at 9 a.m.
