TOWSON, Md. – The Gallaudet University men’s track and field team placed 11th overall at the Goucher Invitational held on Saturday. The Bison accumulated 19 team points as it just missed a Top 10 finish by seven points. GU finished ahead of teams from Coppin State, Hagerstown Community College, George Washington University, Stevenson University and Catholic University of America. Salisbury University won the meet with 142 points followed by Frostburg State University (103 points) and Howard Community College (91 points).
Junior Darius Flowers (Birmingham, Ala.) won the triple jump for a third straight time this season. Flowers leaped 13.85 meters (45 feet, 5.25 inches). He also competed in the javelin toss and placed 11th overall with a toss of 40.60 meters (133 feet, two inches).
Freshman Michael Haynes (Granite City, Ill.) finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.07 seconds. Gallaudet’s 4x100 relay team finished 5th with a time of 46.54 seconds. Kenneth Montanez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was seventh in the shot put with a toss of 12.46 meters (40 feet, 10.5 inches).
GU will next compete in the Messiah Invitational in Gratham, Pa., on Saturday, April 14, at 10 a.m.
