MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Gallaudet University men’s track and field team participated at the Millersville Spring Opener on Saturday. There was no team scores kept for this meet.
Freshman Darius Flowers (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) led the way as he finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.95 meters. This is the first time in four meets that Flowers has not won this event. He lost out to Drew Miller from East Stroudsburg who leapt 14.45 meters. His leap was better than last week at the Goucher Classic but only the third best this season.
Sophomore Braden Painter (Frederick, Md.) finished 15th overall in the 110-meter hurdles (17.22 seconds) and was 23rd overall in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.71). Gallaudet’s 4x100 meter relay team was 11th (47.23 seconds) and freshman Max Wilding (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was 11th in the 5,000-meter run (17:53.17).
Freshman Kenneth Montanez (Brentwood, Tenn.) tried his hand at the javelin where he placed 31st overall with a heave of 27.71 meters. Over at the 400-meter dash freshman Kelvin Lunn (Cincinnati, Ohio) was 31st (56.96 seconds) and fellow freshman teammate Mike Atwood (Grand Rapids, Mich.) was 32nd (57.91 seconds) in the same event. Freshman Shelby Bean (Colorado Springs, Colo.) took 45th place in the 100-meter dash (12.20 seconds).
GU is slated to travel to Virginia on Saturday, April 10, to participate in the Lynchburg Classic.
