Four Gallaudet athletes are set to compete in the Mason-Dixon Championship held in Frostburg, Maryland this weekend. Senior Anthony Baskin and Freshman Brady Painter will compete in both the 110 meter and 400 meter hurdles. Baskin will also participate in the high jump. Jumps specialist Erin Phillips is slated to do long jump, triple jump, and high jump. Senior Matthew Schindel completes the Bison lineup in the javelin.
Competition began this evening with both Baskin and Painter qualifying in the 110 meter high hurdle prelims. Painter qualified 7th in a time of 16.50, while Baskin rounded out the field in a time of 16.56. Erin Phillips placed 8th in the long jump competition with a career best jump of 4.65 meters (15-3).
The championships will resume tomorrow with field events beginning at 10:00am. The running events are slated to start at 12:30pm.
