Bill Snape
Title: Head Coach
Phone: 202.651.5603

Snape enters his sixth season as the head coach of the Gallaudet University men's and women's swimming program in 2009-10. The 2008 Capital Athletic Conference Coach of the Year has coached two all-conference swimmers and has seen over 50 program records broken in his tenure. Snape is also the Director of U.S. Deaf Swimming and was the head coach of the 2007 U.S. Deaf World Championship swim team.

"My goal with this program is to build off our success and create a NCAA Division III powerhouse. Striving for excellence in the pool mirrors academic discipline and ultimately means success in the world after graduation," says Snape.

Snape is a proud graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) where he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the UCLA Honors College in 1986. The Moorestown, N.J., native was also a high school All-American swimmer.

Snape began coaching competitive age-group swim teams in California, New Jersey and Virginia while at UCLA. After college he served as an associate head swim coach at George Washington University for three seasons while he earned his law degree. He graduated from GWU in 1989.

When not on the Gallaudet pool deck, Snape is senior counsel with the Center for Biological Diversity and practitioner-in-residence at American University Law School. He also serves on the President's Trade and Environment Advisory Committee.
