AURORA, N.Y. - The Gallaudet University men's swimming and diving team split Saturday's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) double-dual meet hosted by Wells College, the defending conference champions.
The Bison took down the defending NEAC champions with a 103-64 victory but fell to SUNY Cobleskill, last year's conference runner-up, 103-79.
Gallaudet (3-4) was led by junior Jonathan Tikhonoff (Folsom, Calif.) who took first place in three different individual events. Tikhonoff dominated his opponents in the 1,000 freestyle and set a new personal record with a time of 11 minutes and 1.86 seconds, out swimming the competition by one minute and 26 seconds. He was also first to touch the wall in the 200 individual medley (IM) with a time of 2:11.03. Tikhonoff completed the hat trick with his first-place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:25.86).
Roman set personal records as he placed first in 50 freestyle (23.78) and second in the 100 backstroke (1:01.38) while Martinez placed first in the 100 butterfly (57.99) and 100 breaststroke (1:07.78), and finished second in the 200 freestyle (1:58.95).
Cobleskill had five first-place finishes in the meet and completed the double-dual meet sweep with a 130-55 win over the Express.
- Senior Xuan Lin (Mount Prospect, Ill.) came in sixth place in the 200 IM (3:05.88) and seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1:23.34)
- Freshman Setthawut Snow (St. Augustine, Fla.) took third place in the 100 freestyle (58.01) and fourth in the 200 freestyle (2:15.12)
- Senior David Bruno (Patchogue, N.Y.) placed fifth in the 1,000 freestyle (16:43.76) and seventh in the 500 freestyle (7:54.38)

The Bison are now off until the New Year and will next compete at York, Pa., on Friday, Jan. 13, in a double-dual meet at 5 p.m. against Penn St.-Altoona and the York (Pa.) College Spartans.
