CAZENOVIA, N.Y. - After two days of competition, the Gallaudet University men's swimming and diving team remains in second place at the 2017 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships hosted by Cazenovia College.
The Bison have accumulated 259 team points and trail SUNY Cobleskill who have a commanding first-place lead with 434 points. Gallaudet leads Wells College (221 points) and the hosts, Cazenovia College (154).
Tikhonoff, set a NEAC record in the preliminary round of the 400-yard IM, when he finished the event in 4:31.26. He came back to win the final heat touching the wall in 4:40.75 to earn 16 team points.
Martinez added another first-place finish and 16 points for the Bison when he swam the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.48, as he beat out the competition by three seconds.
Tikhonoff and Martinez were joined by freshman Setthawut Snow (St. Augustine, Fla.) and senior David Bruno (Patchogue, N.Y.) in the 800 freestyle relay. The team took second place and 26 points as they finished the event in 8:46.23.
The Bison snatched up another 26 points with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay. Tikhonoff, Martinez, Snow and senior Dary Berke (Fremont, Calif.) swam the event in 1:53.12.
- Senior Xuan Lin (Mount Prospect, Ill.) scored 11 points for the Bison as he finished fourth in the 400 IM (6:38.38)
- Snow added 10 points for GU when he finished in fifth place in the 200 freestyle (2:16.29)
- In the 100 backstroke, Berke finished fourth (1:17.57) followed by freshman Lukas Morkevicius (Washington, D.C.) in fifth place (1:41.80)

The third and final day of the NEAC swimming and diving championships will take place tomorrow (Sunday, Feb. 12) at the Stephen M. Schneeweiss Athletic Complex. Preliminaries are slated to start at 10 a.m. with the finals at 4:45 p.m. The final seven events include the 1,650 free, 100 IM, 200 backstroke, 100 free, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 free relay.
