Monarchs defeat Bison 5-0

WASHINGTON, DC--Gallaudet's defense earned top billing in today's 5-0 loss, as they opened the first 15 minutes in a scoreless draw, with backup goalie Dean Muszynski filling in for the injured David Owens. The visiting Methodist University Monarchs could not get a shot past the Bison defense until nearly the 16th minute of action. Monarch Dustin Brackinridge finally found a seam for the first goal.

Over the course of the half, despite 24 shots against him, Muszynski did not falter, only allowing four to elude his grasp, as he recorded 23 saves. Gallaudet's Zane Noschese also managed to fire off two shots, both sailing off the top bar of the Monarch goal.

Monarchs Bret Brennan, C.J. Komons, Andy White & Pedro Massinga joined their mate Brackinridge as the game's scorers.

During the second half, the Buff and Blue nearly outscored the Monarchs. Kris Kubiak had an opportunity after an exceptional display of passing put on by Sylvain Angouono, Justin DiBiase and Nick Roquemore. Off a Bison feed, Kubiak ran to the goalie's fringe and fired off his shot--it missed its mark on the right hand side, and the score remained 0 for the Bison.

Monarch Pedro Massinga's goal to prevent the second-half shutout finally came at the 83-minute mark.

The Bison drop to 0-14 on the season, but their pride remains intact as they prepare to take on Lancaster Bible College Saturday, October 20 at 4:00 p.m. as part of the Homecoming Weekend sports action.
