Announcing Larry Musa as the 2007 Head Men's Soccer Coach
Coach Larry Musa comes back to Athletics after a brief hiatus during which he pursued his Masters in Business Administration at the University of Texas-Permian Basin (Odessa, TX). In the late 1990s, Coach Musa took the Bison to the semi-finals of the 1997 CAC Tournament. He brings a depth of coaching experience from the collegiate, intramural and international levels.
In 2000, Coach Musa served as the assistant coach for the United States National Deaf Soccer Team that competed in the Summer Deaflympics (Rome, Italy) and ranked 10th, the first time that Team USA had finished that high.
Coach Musa subscribes to the A-FIT philosophy, which is Academics, Fitness, Intelligence and Technique, emphasizing academics as a top priority for student-athletes. He also holds National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) certification, and has attended the AFC Ajax (Amsterdam) Coaching Seminar.
His coaching aim is to "bring the best and brightest deaf soccer players out there to Gallaudet University. ..to develop and have a core group of players that live and breathe soccer!" The coaching crew plans to have a good year from the returning veterans and incoming freshmen, and to improve on last season's performance on the field and in the classroom.
