Temple University comes to Gallaudet to prepare for NCAA Tournament

WASHINGTON, D.C.--The Owls of Temple University (Philadelphia, Pa.) stopped by Gallaudet on Sunday, March 23 for a practice session prior to their game against Arizona State at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Bison head coach Kevin Cook and Temple's Dawn Staley have a connection. Staley played with the Houston Comets of the WNBA while Cook was an assistant coach there, in 2005 and 2006. Staley is making a name for herself, having put together 151 career wins thus far after seven seasons with Temple. According to the Owls' athletic website, Staley has become the fastest coach in school history to eclipse the 100-win mark.
With Coach Staley, the Owls have won four of their last six Conference titles and sent two of their players on to the WNBA (Candice Dupree & Kamesha Hairston). What is notable is that Staley was not just a coach, but also an All-Star player for the Charlotte Sting and the Comets, up until her retirement as a player at the end of the 2006 season.
The Owls (22-12) will take on the Sun Devils of Arizona State (21-10) on Monday, March 24.
Gallaudet Athletics wishes Temple the best of luck in the 2008
NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.
