Bison Suffer Third Loss of Season to Greensboro 34-0

Despite controlling the ball for over half the game and a superb effort from several players, Gallaudet lost 34-0 to Greensboro (2-1) to go 0-3 on the season. The stat sheet shows a closer game than the final score, and the Bison played tough the entire game.

Gallaudet maintained possession of the ball for 30 minutes and 36 seconds while Greensboro had the ball for 28 minutes and 24 seconds. Greensboro had 323 yards of total offense while Gallaudet had 264 yards. The  difference in the game was the ability of Greensboro to get the ball in the end zone and limit their turnovers.

Offensively Gallaudet had a balanced attack as they gained 141 yards rushing and 123 yards passing.  Junior quarterback Fletch Kuehne (Austin, TX/Model Secondary School for the Deaf) was 10-22 passing for 100 yards with one interception. Junior quarterback Jimmy Gardner (St. Augustine, FL/Florida School for the Deaf and Blind) was 3-8 for 23 yards. Senior wide receiver Kevin Alley (Salem,OR/Lebanon High School) led the Bison receivers with 5 catches for 45 yards. Alley also punted 6 times for a 32 yard average, including two punts inside the 20 yard line.

Freshman running back Scott Lehmann (Frederick, MD/Maryland School for the Deaf) averaged over 6 yards a carry, gaining 88 yards on 14 carries.

Defensively, The Bison were led by Senior linebacker Calvin Doudt (Medina, OH/Maryland School for the Deaf) who made 6 tackles, 5 assists, and had 2.5 tackles for a loss. Freshman defensive  back Jared Vollmer (Delavan, WI/Delavan-Darien) added 6 tackles and 4 assists, and Senior linebacker Adam Tygart (Wayne, WV/Wayne) contributed 4 tackles, 4 assists, and made one interception.  Junior defensive back Marty Blomquist (Neptune, NJ/Point Pleasant Borough) also made an interception.


This week the Bison have a bye. Their next game will be October 4 at Becker College.
