Rantz Teeters, Robin Shannon make NCAA National Rankings

WASHINGTON,DC--Senior safety Rantz Teeters and senior linebacker Robin Shannon both notched top ten national performances for the Bison defense. Teeters finished tied for sixth with 6 interceptions in 8 NCAA games, returning the picks for a total of 81 yards. Shanon broke the top ten in two categories; tackles for loss and sacks. His 14 tackles for loss (12 solo, 4 assists) placed Robin ninth nationally, while 8 solo sacks wrapped up the tenth spot. The senior duo's accomplishments mark the first time in Gallaudet history that two Bison have been nationally ranked in defensive statistics. On offense, quarterback Jimmy Segala was rated the seventh best passer in 1987 and eleventh in 1988. Darnell Woods ranked tenth as a punter, amassing a 38.8 average in 1989. Junior linebacker Calvin Doudt also gained attention, ranking fifty-second nationally in solo tackles.
