Bison defeat Williamson Trade 40-26 on Homecoming Day

WASHINGTON, DC--The Buff and Blue emerged victorious on a sunny and warm October Saturday, dispatching the Williamson Trade School in a 40-26 Homecoming Day effort.
Williamson was the first to draw blood off a 11-yard run. However, the early score was avenged by a Joshua Doudt interception that he returned for a 44-yard retaliation strike minutes later. The point-after-touchdown (PAT) was blocked, keeping Williamson ahead 7-6.
Gallaudet would score again, this time in a reversal of roles. Quarterback Fletch Kuehne connected with receiver Jason Coleman for a 39-yard punch in to take the lead, 12-7. Once again, the PAT did not succeed.
Williamson got on the board again off a 25-yard connection from quarterback Steven Powers to tight end Josh Hughes. After the ensuing Bison drive resulted in a Kevin Alley punt, Williamson capitalized and went down the field in a four play, 73-yard drive that brought about another Williamson score. Powers connected with Geoffrey Paugam to make it a 19-12 game near the half.
In the opening drive of the second half, Gallaudet answered back with a Fletch Kuehne rush. Kuehne's two-yard bolt capped a four-minute drive that would assure the Bison of their lead for the rest of the game. Kuehne also ran in the PAT for a two-point conversion to make it 20-19, Buff and Blue.
Gallaudet scored again in the fourth quarter when Kuehne found Kevin Alley for a 50-yard connection to widen the gap, 26-19. On the next defensive drive, linebacker Calvin Doudt picked off a Stephen Powers pass and returned it 33 yards to set up Dan Alexander's 16-yard touchdown run. At this point, the Bison victory was fast approaching on the horizon, 33-19.
When the Bison got the ball back after a three-and-out drive, Kuehne found pockets in the Williamson defense as he scrambled for a 40-yard touchdown run. Kicker Justin Wilson split the uprights to make it 40-19, Gallaudet.
Williamson managed to sneak in one more touchdown off running back Curtis Schofield's legs, capping the scoring effort at 40-26. Despite time-outs and a last-ditch offensive effort, the visitors could not penetrate the Bison defense to attempt a rally.
Linebacker Joshua Doudt led the defensive effort with 11.5 tackles (9 solo, 5 assists) and an interception returned for a touchdown. Calvin Doudt posted 7 solos and an interception, while defensive end Roman Nawrocki rounded out the top three with 5 stops (4 solo, 2 assists).
On offense, Kuehne went 9-for-20 without any interceptions and 240 yards in the air, two touchdown passes. His longest connection was a 55 yard pass to receiver Cole Johnson. Jason Coleman had 69 yards off two touches and a score. Kevin Alley picked up 66 yards off two touches and a score as well.
