Gallaudet Defeats SUNY-Maritime

Throggs Neck, NY- Freshman running back Ben Sweedish was stopped by the Bison defense, as the offense backed up with a 18-13 win over the Privateers.

Gallaudet was led on offense by running back Robert Haney, Jr. who ran for 103 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown on a three-yard run in the fourth quarter. On defense, linebacker Calvin Doudt punched out his card with 11 solo tackles and one assist.

The Privateers got on the board quickly, scoring on their second possession of the game. They got into the end zone on a three-yard run by quarterback Zach Townsend, good for a 7-0 lead.

Gallaudet answered with a 40-second drive that was highlighted by a 51-yard touchdown run from running back Tamir Armwood. However, the point-after was not converted, and the Privateers held their lead, 7-6.

The Bison fumbled the ball on the ensuing offensive drive and the Privateer defense recovered, ran it in for a score, making the game 13-6.

Bison quarterback Jason Coleman found Chester Kuschmider for a 22-yard touchdown reception, although the Bison could not convert another point-after attempt, and went into the locker rooms at halftime down 13-12.

After a quiet third quarter, Gallaudet scored the only points of the second half, following Haney's three-yard run to take an 18-13 lead that capped off a 75-yard, 11 play drive.
