FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Gallaudet University baseball team was shut out for the first time this season here Wednesday as Dubuque University won 5-0 at the Player Development Complex.
Gallaudet (5-8) was held to six hits as junior center fielder Kyle Gumm (Dallas, Texas) recorded a third of the hits with a single and a double in the lead-off position. In fact, Gallaudet's top three batters had four combined hits in the loss.
Dubuque (5-3) scored a run in the first and second inning to take an early 2-0 lead. The Spartans added a third run in the seventh and two unearned runs in the eighth. The Bison had five errors in the game.
Freshman pitcher Austin Sliva-Wynne (Richmond, Texas) got the start on the mound and lasted six and two-thirds innings. He allowed three runs on 11 hits, walked one and struck out four.

Gallaudet will travel over to the Terry Park Sports Complex tomorrow (Thursday, March 16) and face Skidmore College (3-2) in a nine-inning game.
