Gallaudet drops twinbill to York

WASHINGTON, D.C.--The Buff and Blue took on the green and white of York College's Spartans in a conference doubleheader. The visitors took both games, 15-3, 22-7.
Eric Smithson and Kevin Alley pitched complete games for the Bison. Smithson struck out three Spartans over the first game, with Alley retiring two.
A.J. Williams went 3-for-3, scoring a run in the bottom of the eighth, and Justin Lathus turned in a 2-for-2 outing. The pair combined for five of seven Bison hits.
Game two saw a total of 13 hits for the Buff and Blue. Zane Noschese, Kevin Alley, Justin Lathus and John Moore, Jr. each went 2-for-4.
The Bison jumped out in front of the Spartans after a three-run first inning after York did not score in the opening top half of the inning. The second inning saw a nine-run spurt from the visitors, and Gallaudet could not overcome the deficit despite scoring in two more innings down the stretch.
Noschese and Alley opened the first with a pair of singles. Noschese stretched his single into two extra bases off Spartan errors, and scored when Ryan Lentz hit a RBI single. Alley advanced to second, and both he and Lentz scored after Justin Lathus hit a two-RBI double.
In the third, Alley reached on an error by York, and promptly stole second base. Then he advanced to third off a pitching error. Warren Keller and Christian Deaton followed with singles. Deaton's hit brought Alley home. Keller eventually scored off a RBI from John Moore, Jr.
During the sixth, Alley singled, and again stole second. Lentz picked up a base on balls, and both players scored when Justin Lathus hit another two-run RBI double.
Gallaudet (1-12, 0-9 CAC) goes on spring break. Play resumes on March 24 at home against Villa Julie College. The first pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
